In 1997 before the average TV viewer was thinking about HD. WHTN was in a rental facility that leaked whenever it rained. Our wiring in Master Control and production control was a mess and often “under water” due to rain. Not a great mix for television but it’s what we had to work with and we worked with what we had.
In the year 2000 WHTN’s program schedule was about 40% home shopping and infomercials. In June 2000 we took a dramatic step of faith and cancelled home shopping and the infomercials. This means that WHTN would lose about $20,000.00 each month in revenue. Amazingly, miraculous within 90 days WHTN had recouped that “lost revenue” with ministry programs. We have never looked back and have been broadcasting the gospel 24/7 since June 2000.
Again, in 2003 WHTN moved from a “leaky” rented facility to our own building. The building was perfect for building a studio. With no budget to build a studio the employees of WHTN linked arms and physically built the studio (minus the professionally completed electrical upgrades and air conditioning work). When the studio was completed there was yet another challenge. WHTN did not have studio cameras.
Once again we faced another challenge with faith. Our local churches, viewers like you and businesses joined with us to purchase 3 brand new studio cameras. Thanks to everyone’s faithfulness in about 90 days we raised $35,000.00. It was such a miracle to unpack and set up those cameras. Once again God showed Himself strong.
Now in 2011 we face yet another transition. It’s the HD transition. It’s costly – it’s expensive and it’s mandated. Sure our picture will look better and we’ll join the ranks of all the broadcasters already fully HD – but the bottom line for us has always been sharing the gospel 24/7. In order to continue doing that – we have to make the HD transition. We know these are tough times. We’re familiar with the economic challenges. But we at WHTN know that God has always been faithful. He’s always come through for us in incredible ways and we know the HD transition won’t be any different. Right now we need at least 500 viewers to give an average of $100.00. That’s it. 500 viewers giving $100.00 will take us to our $50,000.00 goal and that’s all we need to be HD.
